Computer Assisted Relief Map Design for Locomotion Instructors
ACCRIL is a Research Project led by the Laboratoire d'Informatique, de Modélisation et d'Optimisation des Systèmes (LIMOS) of the Université Clermont Auvergne, jointly with the COGIT laboratory of the IGN.
The production of relief maps for the visually impaired (VD) is nowadays a predominantly artisanal practice. The scientific advances in geomatics, combined with the availability of collaborative geographic data (OpenStreetMap type) and interactive approaches offer original possibilities for designing such maps.
In this project, we focus attention on the design of relief maps at the scale of the crossroads. These maps are used by locomotion instructors as a physical support for apprehension and help in the mental representation of urban space around the crossroads represented.
